Contributions

The NSSF covers all employers who have 5 or more employees between 16 and 55 years of age, with the exception of employees under the Government Pensions Act. The NSSF Act requires a registered employer is required to pay contributions to the Fund for his\her employees every month during which he/she pays salaries.

The NSSF Act also provides for voluntary membership for employers with less than 5 employees.

Investment

NSSF collects members' contributions and invests them judiciously, and pays commensurate benefits to qualifying members. The money collected is maintained on individual member accounts, invested and earns an annual interest depending on our return on investments.

NSSF's Investment Policy provides for clear guidelines on investments. The Board and Management are mandated by the NSSF Act to invest the money on behalf of the NSSF members. Currently, NSSF has various investment interests in real estate, equities, and fixed income. The benefit for the member is that the member is assured of secure retirement.

NSSF Kampala Hash Seven Hills Run raises Shs131m to refurbish Public schools in Kampala

KAMPALA November 6, 2017:- The National Social Security Fund, in partnership with Kampala Hash House Harriers, has today handed over Shs131 million raised during this year’s NSSF Kampala Hash 7 Hills Run to Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) for the renovation of structures in selected public primary schools.

 

Proceeds from this year’s run are going towards the renovation of Makerere primary school, Summit View army Primary and completion of works at Nakivubo Settlement School.

           

During the handover of the proceeds today at Nakivubo Settlement, NSSF Managing Director, Richard Byarugaba, said that the Fund  chose to support KCCA because of the appalling conditions at most of their schools.

 

“The NSSF Kampala Hash 7 Hills Run is a vehicle through which we will progressively raise funds to improve learning conditions in public schools. So far, Nakivubo Settlement primary school and St. Ponsiano Kyamula primary school have benefited from this initiative. With this year’s proceeds, more schools will be renovated,” he said.

 

According to KCCA, 90% of the 79 government aided schools under their custody require refurbishment among other needs. “I applaud NSSF for keeping their promise to support us. With this support, we are able to address one of the most pressing needs in providing quality education for the underprivileged children,” said Jenifer Musisi, KCCA Executive Director.

 

The Run held earlier in March attracted over 1500 participants and was supported by Monitor Publications, Total Uganda, Bank of Uganda, Uganda Revenue Authority Umeme, Centenary Bank, Galaxy fm, URSB, Sybyl (Computer Point), Housing Finance Bank, Capital Markets Authority, Radio Simba, Kampala Water.

 

Others are Vision Group, Fireworks Advertising, Interswitch Uganda, Stanbic Bank,Vodafone, Cementers, Toyota Uganda, Mukwano Industries, Blu Flamingo, IPSOS, ICPAU, Footsteps Furniture, Multichoice Uganda, Phoenix Assurance, Red Pepper, Senta Enterprises, Equity Bank, 3D Services, Pinnacle Security, Uganda Paralympic team, Uganda Sport Press Association.

 

NSSF has over the past years engaged in a number of social responsible initiatives, such as the annual Torch Awards through which the Fund rewards individuals or community based organisations that are making a positive impact on the community, Blood Donation drives in partnership with Ministry of Health, the annual dental camp at Mulago hospital among others.
