The NSSF covers all employers who have 5 or more employees between 16 and 55 years of age, with the exception of employees under the Government Pensions Act. The NSSF Act requires a registered employer is required to pay contributions to the Fund for his\her employees every month during which he/she pays salaries.

The NSSF Act also provides for voluntary membership for employers with less than 5 employees.

NSSF collects members' contributions and invests them judiciously, and pays commensurate benefits to qualifying members. The money collected is maintained on individual member accounts, invested and earns an annual interest depending on our return on investments.

NSSF's Investment Policy provides for clear guidelines on investments. The Board and Management are mandated by the NSSF Act to invest the money on behalf of the NSSF members. Currently, NSSF has various investment interests in real estate, equities, and fixed income. The benefit for the member is that the member is assured of secure retirement.

Careers at NSSF

The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) is a Povident Fund mandated to provide social security to its members as prescribed by law under CAP 222 (Laws of Uganda) through efficient management of members' contributions.

The NSSF asset base is currently over Ugx. 8.2  trillion, making the Fund one of the largest players in Uganda's economy.

The Fund invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the position below:


JOB TITLE:                 COMPLIANCE AUDITOR – (11 Positions)







  • Undertake an accurate reconciliation of employers' accounts with NSSF and review the employers' human resource policies with regards to workers' terms of employment & emoluments paid in relation to their contributions’ records in order to ensure compliance with the NSSF Act and enhance business with the employers.


Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring  and inspection of employers to enable efficient planning for audits
  • Planning and commissioning of audits
  • Planning, organizing and conducting exit meetings with employers after audits
  • Deployment and review of Self-Assessment Tool (SAT)
  • Follow up on defaulters through visits, calls and mails. Negotiating with them to pay unaudited arrears.
  • Follow up on bounced cheques to have them replaced
  • Following up on complaints and whistle blower cases
  • Ensure organizational compliance audit targets are achieved.
  • Referring difficult audited cases to legal for prosecution basing on recommendations of branch managers and giving evidence in court, when required.
  • Ensuring up to date record keeping (updated dashboard, updated physical/hard copy files, updating sharepoint)
  • Manage and nurture the relationship with problematic defaulters.
  • Roll out and implement  Know your Customer project
  • Engage in audit findings’ discussions including settlement plans
  • Follow employers’ unaudited arrears to cause compliance and ensure that non-compliance of employers does not exceed 1 month of non-payment.



Education Requirements:

  • Numerical bachelors degree preferably in Management, Business Administration, Statistics, Actuarial Science or Accounting, and ongoing professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, CFA)


Related Job Experience:

  • At least 3 years of experience in operations /a busy commercial environment.
