NSSF has handed over a donation of 33 blankets to the inpatients unit for babies at the mildmay clinic to mark World Aids Day.
Mildmay Uganda runs a 33-bed inpatient unit for children living with HIV/AIDS that require intensive inpatient care.
NSSF’s su pport is in response to an appeal from Mildmay Uganda’s flagship 33-bed pediatric inpatient unit, requesting financial support.. The donation is part of the Fund’s World Aids Day activities.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, NSSF’s Deputy Managing Director Mrs. Geraldine Ssali said.
“We greatly appreciate the work being done by the clinic. HIV/ AIDS has touches everyone in one way or another and it is our responsibility as a socially responsible organization to support institutions like Mild May. We believe that this donation will help these children a have an opportunities to live fulfilling lives”.
The Director of Mildmay Uganda, Dr Emmanuel Luyirika, said that the ward takes care of the HIV-infected children, who often arrive perilously close to death.
“Most of these children that come to this unit are usually very ill”. He said.
Mildmay clinic provides health care services to people living with HIV and AIDS. The charity aims at reaching out to those who are living on the margins of society, the poor, and those who are stigmatized by society.
It also focuses on provision of holistic care that is intended to improve the quality of life of those living with HIV and AIDS through the provision of appropriate care, a service which is in line with NSSF’s Corporate Social Responsibility Policy focus on health.
Currently, 24,000 patients 19% of which are children, receive care and support from Mildmay Uganda using a holistic family-centered approach.
