NSSF gives 20m boost for Volleyball tourney

NSSF Deputy Chief Marketing and Communications Officer Mrs. Olive Lumonya handed over the cheque to the KAVC President Mr. Bob Ewange at Workers House in Kampala.

Speaking at the handover, Lumonya said that the support is in fulfillment of NSSF’s social responsibility to support the development of sports within the country.NSSF D. “KAVC has been instrumental in raising the standard of the game in Uganda. The Founders memorial tournament gives NSSF an opportunity to support the youth talent,” she said.

The tournament, now in its 14th edition, will take place on the 14th and 15th August 2010 at Namboole stadium. It has attracted teams from Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi and Ethiopia.

The sponsorship money will cater for organisation, trophies and equipment for the 2 day tournament.

“This is the 3rd year that NSSF is showing its commitment to see the game of volleyball develop further through this support. We thank the management for helping KAVC fulfill its mission to better community health and behaviour through sports. This can only benefit our youth and the country at large,” he said.

NSSF sponsored the last two editions of the tournaments in 2008 and 2009. Uganda’s Sport S club is the men’s defending champions, while KAVC are the women’s defending champion of the annual tournament.
