The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) has received Shs 191.8m dividends from the Vision Group earned last financial year.
Vision Group Chief Executive Officer Robert Kabushenga handed over a dummy cheque to NSSF Ag. Managing Director, Grace Isabirye at the group’s head office in Industrial Area, Kampala on Friday.
NSSF owns 19.61% shares of Vision Group. The shares were purchased in 2008. Mr. Kabushenga said that the company was on a solid foundation and expects its financial performance to improve.
“We are the best performers in the industry. This is reflected in the revenue generated,” he told a delegation from NSSF led by Mr. Isabirye, which included the Ag. Chief Investments Officer, Mr. Francis Kajura, the Ag. Chief Marketing & Communications Officer Mrs. Olive B. Lumonya and the Chief Finance Officer Mr. Julius Ishungisa.
Isabirye said that the Fund has improved the benefits claim process and continues to issue statements to members.
“This is one of the accountability processes. We give hard and electronic statements to members, and therefore there is need for the media to highlight these positive developments in the Fund,” he said.
He added that the Fund is addressing performance issues and will be proactive going forward,” Isabirye said.
NSSF has investments interests in various sectors of the economy, both short term and long term. Key short term investment areas include fixed deposits and treasury bills; while long term interests include DFCU, HFCU and the 10-year Government bond.

NSSF net worth is UgShs 1.5 trillion and currently has a total membership of over 404,000. The Fund pays out an average of UgShs 6 billion per month to over 1,000 beneficiaries.
