Members should send e-mail addresses to customerservice@nssfug.org
Addresses can also be hand delivered to the nearest NSSF Area Office
The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) plans to start sending member contribution statements electronically using e-mail addresses provided by contributing employers, the Fund has announced.
NSSF Ag. Managing Director Mr. Martin Bandeebire said that the Fund will send out 180,000 statements to members by end of February 2009. He said that three pilot tests the Fund has carried out confirmed the feasibility of the project.
We sent out e-statements to 10 selected employers and all were successfully delivered to their employees. A sizeable number of our members have e-mail addresses. We request all our registered employers and individual employees to avail us their e-mail addresses to enable us enhance effective service delivery' Mr. Bandeebire said.
Employers whose statements were successfully sent during the pilot tests include URA, NSSF, Makerere University Walter Reed Project, Chevron, Uganda Debt Network and Save the Children Uganda, among others.
Mr. Bandeebire added that the Fund has put in place internal mechanisms to handle member inquiries on e-statements.
We have put in place full time staff at all our 24 Area Offices across the country who will attend to our members and provide appropriate feedback. We also have a team of data cleaning staff who will correct any possible errors in the statements and continuously crosscheck to ensure that the e-statements are accurate.
NSSF has been issuing paper statements to its members on a regular basis and on request by walk-in members. Issuing e-statements will not only enable efficient delivery of statements to NSSF members but also reduce costs to members and the Fund.
The issuing of e-statements is one of the many IT innovations planned over five years as part of the Fund's Strategic Plan currently being implemented. Other planned innovations include access to individual contribution balances on mobile phones via SMS, member online self service, among others.
